Las Vegas is located on the famous Las Vegas strip in Paradise, Las Vegas, Nevada and is owned by the Caesars Entertainment Group. The casino covers almost 80,000 square feet and the hotel contains just over 3,500 rooms for guests looking to enjoy all that the Las Vegas Strip has to offer.  The hotel covers 40 acres and the hotel is themed to try and evoke the art deco look that Miami Beach has become famous for.  The hotel was the third resort to open on the Vegas strip and is now the oldest hotel that still resides on that famous four mile stretch of road that we call the Vegas Strip. 

The Flamingo Las Vegas is also connected to the Las Vegas Monorail which is situated at the rear of the property.In 1945 perhaps the world’s most famous mafia member “Bugsy Siegel” came to Sin City after Bugsy had heard about a planned resort that would legalise gambling in the United States Of America.  After several pitfalls and escalating costs Siegel finally opened the Flamingo Hotel and Casino at a total cost of 6 million dollars on boxing day 1946.  The hotel was billed as the “World’s Greatest Resort”.  The hotel was named after the then girlfriend of Siegel Virgina Hill, who loved to gamble and was nicknamed Flamingo because of her long legs.After the death of Bugsy Siegel the hotel changed hands several times before finally being purchase in 1967 by one of the founding fathers of Las Vegas Kirk Kerkorian.  Kerkorian then sold the hotel on to the Hilton in 1972 and after several changes to the hotel the last piece of the original hotel was finally brought down in December 1994.

The hotel originally was comprised of 105 rooms before towers were added in 1967, 1975, 1977, 1982, 1990 and 1995. In 1998 the Flamingo was then sold to Caesars Entertainment before finally in 2005 being sold to the current owners “Harrahs Entertainment”.Attractions and FacilitiesThe current headline show at the Flamingo Las Vegas features Donny and Marie Osmond and their show has now enjoyed an incredibly successful 6 year run on the famous strip.  The show is noted for the old Vegas tradition of featuring tables and booths rather than arena type seating.

The show was awarded the Best Of Las Vegas in 2012 and is still widely popular with visitors from around the world.The Gardens at the Flamingo feature Chilean Flamingos, Ring tealed ducks and an assortment of other birds.  Jimmy Buffets Margaritaville opened a restaurant, bar and gift shop at the Flamingo in 2003 to continue the tropical theme found at the Flamingo.Popular CultureThe Viva Las Vegas film of the 1960s and the original Oceans 11 movie were both filmed at the hotel as was a flashback in the George Clooney version of the movie.The 1991 movie Bugsy starring Warren Beatty was based around the infamous mobsters involvement in the construction of the famous hotel.The debut solo album of the Killers lead singer Brandon Flowers was named after the famous hotel and casino.
